We are absolutely thrilled by the incredible support we received from numerous businesses and individuals at The Cooper Group Cancer Society Nelson Tasman Diamond Gala on Saturday 8th June at Trafalgar Centre. Your generosity, whether through auction items, event support, or other contributions, played an instrumental role in making this event an overwhelming success.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the supporters and donors who joined us at the event with over 200 people attending the event. Your unwavering commitment to the spirit of giving, resulted in over $85,000 being raised. This remarkable sum will undoubtedly have a significant impact on those affected by cancer and their loved ones in our community.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Debbie Cooper-Norriss and The Cooper Group for their invaluable support as the naming rights sponsor and as our most passionate advocate for this event. And a big shout out to Debbie for once again doing a stellar job as auctioneer on the night.

The Cause

Every year more than 25,000 New Zealanders will learn they have cancer. This is why the Cancer Society must raise more funds each year so it can support as many of these people as possible through their cancer journey.

A listening ear; an information booklet or reputable website; a turban or a beanie to help with hair loss during treatment; practical assistance in navigating our complex and, sometimes, confusing health system; motel-style accommodation for patients receiving treatment or transport by a volunteer driver to reduce the stress of daily travel and provide companionship en-route to medical appointments are among the regular services freely offered by the Cancer Society.

We could not provide these much appreciated services and programmes in the community without your special support of our annual Cancer Society Ball. Your continued endorsement of our work provides hope for those 74 New Zealanders each day who receive a cancer diagnosis. Living with cancer can be very hard, but finding help and support shouldn’t be, and your attendance at our Ball will ensure we can be there to support those people who hear the words you have cancer.
