Daffodil Day Friday 31st August

Our annual flagship fundraiser was an amazing day and we raised over $105,000 thanks to the generosity of our community, supporters and volunteers.

Our Corporate flowers were well supported by local businesses with a number of volunteers helping to bunch and deliver the daffodils while being driven around Nelson in several vintage cars, kindly driven by members of The Nelson Vintage Car Club.

We have a number of growers that grow daffodils for us and an army of volunteer pickers.  A special mention to all of those who picked in the heavy rain a few days before Daffodil Day!

We have Area Co-ordinators in each area who generously give their time to organise their team of Volunteers to manage the stalls in their areas.  We had a number of stalls across the Nelson/Tasman region which included Murchison, Mapua, Motueka, Takaka and Collingwood.

We had a number of events happening in the region also.

The Kitchen Trail was held on Sunday 19th August https://cancernelson.org.nz/news/nelson-tasman-kitchen-trail/

We had 17 teams play at our Corporate Golf Day on 23rd August supported by ANZ our principal sponsor.  Thank you to Origin Air and all the businesses who played and those who supported this event with prizes for the auction and raffle.

Thank you to The Nelson Vintage Car Club for holding their annual Car Rally to support Daffodil Day on Sunday 26th August.  This year the rally was open to any type of car and to anyone who had ever wanted to “have-a-go” at a simple car rally.  We had a record turnout of 290 cars with lots of support from the public and raffle tickets were sold which included some amazing prizes supported by a number of businesses.  A convoy of cars headed through the region while raising funds for the Cancer Society.

Thank you to everyone who helped in so many ways
