The book is about the adventures of Prudence Miller, a mildly inefficient tax clerk at the Inland Revenue. One morning, in case of mistaken identity, she is given a small, tightly wrapped parcel, a false passport and a first class ticket to the sun. Rather than hand these into the police, she packs a bag and sets off for the airport. A decision that takes her on a roller coaster adventure ride with Lady Luck firmly at her side.
