This year’s Longest Day Golf Challenge brought together incredible teams, each showing determination, stamina, and heart to fundraise for people and whānau affected by cancer in our community. From early mornings to 24-hour feats, these golfers went above and beyond—and the results speak for themselves.

Tasman Golf Club Team: Four Years of Dedication

A huge congratulations to Dawn, Lyndal, Julz, Graham, and Neil from Tasman Golf Club, who took on the challenge for the fourth year running. Rising at 6am and finishing just after 7pm, they covered 31.69km on one of the hilliest courses in the district. Dawn alone recorded 363 shots, and even scored a hole-in-one on No. 8!

Their effort raised over $2,500 for Cancer Society Nelson Tasman. Despite sore legs and stiff backs the following day, the team felt immense pride in what they achieved together. Your dedication and teamwork are inspiring—thank you for everything you do to support our community.

Par “fore” a Purpose: 24 Hours of Golf

Then there’s the extraordinary Par “fore” a Purpose team, Roger, Stu, Abi, and Craig, who added their own twist to the challenge: 24 hours of golf. Through heat, cold, and exhaustion, they raised over $5,000 for Cancer Society Nelson Tasman, showing remarkable determination and teamwork.

Their reflections speak volumes:

Stuart Albon described how the journey, and the support he received from family, friends, and even people as far away as Ashburton and Hokitika, changed his perspective on cancer and his own life.

Abi Mann spoke of the mental and physical test of 24 hours, keeping spirits high and supporting her teammates through long, exhausting hours.

Craig Spargo called it a “great experience for a great cause,” highlighting the team’s resilience.

Roger Hunapo thanked every donor, supporter, and Totaradale Golf Club for making the first 24-hour golf challenge possible, emphasizing that it was never about the golf—it was about the journey and the difference they could make together.
