Support when you need it most
We know it can be hard to ask for help, or even know where to start. Our Supportive Care services are designed to support you, your whānau (family) during the challenging journey of cancer. Whether you need someone to talk to, or practical guidance to navigate your experience, we’re here for you.
We offer personalised support for each individual situation. Our team will listen to your concerns, provide information, and help you understand the available services.
One-on-one Support
If you or someone close to you is facing cancer, our local support team is here to help. We can:
- Help you understand your specific type of cancer and what treatment options might look like
- Guide you through how the hospital system works and what to expect along the way
- Listen to your concerns and those of your whānau, and work with you to find practical solutions
- Liaise with your healthcare team to help ensure your care runs smoothly
- Connect you with other Cancer Society services available in Nelson Tasman
- Help you access additional community services that might make a difference
- Assist with practical challenges, like transport to appointments or understanding your eligibility for financial support

Connecting you with others
Many find comfort in connecting with others who are also impacted by cancer. Through our group and one-on-one peer support services, we create a safe space where you can share your experiences, gain strength, and find understanding.

Our services are available throughout the wider Nelson and Tasman regions, including Golden Bay, Nelson Lakes, Murchison, and Rai Valley. We’re dedicated to ensuring that support is accessible wherever you are.
