Supporters Raise $85k at Cooper Group Diamond Gala

We are absolutely thrilled by the incredible support we received from numerous businesses and individuals at The Cooper Group Cancer Society Nelson Tasman Diamond Gala on Saturday 8th June at Trafalgar Centre. Your generosity, whether through auction items, event support, or other contributions, played an instrumental role in making this event an overwhelming success.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the supporters and donors who joined us at the event with over 200 people attending the event. Your unwavering commitment to the spirit of giving, resulted in over $85,000 being raised. This remarkable sum will undoubtedly have a significant impact on those affected by cancer and their loved ones in our community.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Debbie Cooper-Norriss and The Cooper Group for their invaluable support as the naming rights sponsor and as our most passionate advocate for this event. And a big shout out to Debbie for once again doing a stellar job as auctioneer on the night.

Annual Charity Ball 2026

After careful consideration, we’ve chosen to step back from the event in 2025 to avoid competing with other local charity fundraisers and to ease the pressure on our generous local sponsors and supporters.
We’re proud of the strong community spirit the Charity Ball has fostered over the years, and we’re already looking ahead to delivering a very special event in 2026 – date to be confirmed.

The Cause

Every year, more than 25,000 New Zealanders are told they have cancer. That’s around 74 people every single day. Here in Nelson Tasman, we support over 600 individuals and their whānau each year as they navigate the challenges a cancer diagnosis brings.

Whether it’s a listening ear, a reliable information booklet, counselling, support groups, help navigating the health system, transport to treatment, or some financial relief during a difficult time, we’re here to make sure no one goes through cancer alone.

We simply couldn’t offer these services without the generosity of our community. By supporting the Cancer Society Ball, you help us continue this vital work. Your presence makes a difference, helping ensure that compassionate, practical care is always available for those who need it.
