As we welcome August, it’s hard to believe we’re already in the second half of the year—and that this will be my final newsletter before I finish with the Cancer Society in October.
Serving as General Manager has been a privilege. I want to sincerely thank our Board, staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and the wider community for the incredible support you have shown throughout my time here. Together, we have achieved so much. From the outstanding success of Relay For Life, Jump for Cancer and a memorable AGM to the excitement of our upcoming Spring Charity Ball and Daffodil Day, every milestone has been made possible because of your generosity, commitment and belief in our purpose.
Behind every event are the people we support. During the past year, our Supportive Care team provided free support to 673 people and their whānau across Nelson Tasman, including 413 new referrals, while our Volunteer Driving Service completed 295 patient journeys to help people access treatment. These numbers represent real lives, real stories and the impact that your support makes every single day.
Thank you for everything you do for our community. It has been an honour to work alongside you, and while my role is coming to an end, my support for the Cancer Society and its mission will continue. I will always be an advocate for the extraordinary work this organisation does for people and whānau affected by cancer. I leave with immense gratitude and hope. Ngā mihi nui for being part of the Cancer Society whānau. Together, we are making a lasting difference.
