Celebrating the Champions of The Longest Day Golf Challenge
This year’s Longest Day Golf Challenge brought together incredible individuals and teams, all united by their determination to complete 72 holes (or more!) in a single day, all to raise funds for Cancer Society Nelson Tasman. Here are the inspiring stories of those who went above and beyond to make a difference for our community.
Graham & Matt at Waahi Taakaro Golf Club
Graham and Matt set the pace with their impressive 72 holes completed in just 8 hours at Waahi Taakaro Golf Club. Their incredible stamina and dedication raised an outstanding $1,776!
A big thank-you goes to the Waahi Taakaro Golf Club for hosting, and to everyone who supported Graham and Matt along the way. Your cheers and encouragement made their effort even more special.
Dawn, Lyndal & Julz at Tasman Golf Club
On a scorching 27°C day, Dawn, Lyndal, and Julz took on Tasman Golf Club’s hilly course, completing 72 holes in 13.5 hours. Their Strava even captured a few “off-piste” moments while searching for stray balls!
This powerhouse trio raised $1,363, demonstrating their incredible commitment by taking on this challenge for the third time. Tasman Golf Club, along with their supporters and caddies, played a vital role in making the day a success.
The Dimpled Balls at Nelson Golf Club
The Dimpled Balls team—Vanessa, Steve, Murray, Al, Julian, and Matt—braved 14.5 hours of rain to complete 72 holes at Nelson Golf Club, raising an impressive $6,166.
Vanessa captured the spirit of the day: “The rain hurt a little, but not as much as anyone dealing with cancer. We were still laughing at the end!”
Paul and Craig, the remaining team members, were set to tackle their rounds soon after.
A huge thank-you to Nelson Golf Club for hosting and to everyone who cheered them on through the rain.
Drive for Show, Putt for Donations at Nelson Golf Club
Alyce, Jason, and Tom raised the bar — literally — completing an astonishing 100 holes in a single day, raising $3,766 for the cause.
Starting at 5:28 am, the team walked 42 km, logged over 55,000 steps, and achieved some jaw-dropping stats: 45 birdies, 2 eagles, and Jason’s best round of 64. Tom even managed this feat just 9 days after completing a 100km run!
Their dedication, shared laughs, and tireless effort were truly inspiring.
Roger at Totaradale Golf Club
Roger wrapped up his 72-hole challenge at Totaradale Golf Club in just 7.5 hours, raising $503. His incredible effort and quick pace highlighted his dedication to supporting our community.
We are immensely grateful to Totaradale Golf Club for hosting and to Roger’s supporters for cheering him on throughout the day.
