We are thrilled to officially welcome Venus Guy as the new General Manager of Cancer Society Nelson Tasman. Venus joined us on 29th September, and we celebrated her arrival with a Mihi Whakatau at our Nelson office on Friday, joined by our Board members and kaimahi. It was a beautiful, informal occasion, and Venus was accompanied by her husband Greg and her parents, Devi Rani and Satinder Kumar who are visiting from India.

Venus has called Te Tauihu home for over a decade and is deeply connected to the local community. She brings a wealth of leadership and governance experience across the public, private, and for-purpose sectors, with a strong focus on people at the heart of her work.

With over 12 years in a large FMCG retail business and recent public service experience leading the 2023 General Election in Nelson, Venus combines commercial acumen with a genuine commitment to integrity, fairness, and care. She currently chairs the Chamber of Commerce, Tasman Bays Heritage Trust, and the local branch of the Institute of Directors, and contributes nationally through boards including NZ Kindergartens, Chamber of Commerce New Zealand, and the National Council of the IoD.

As a Justice of the Peace and inclusive leader, Venus is passionate about making a positive difference. She is committed to strengthening the Cancer Society’s impact, supporting whānau through their cancer journey, and upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to ensure equity and compassion are at the centre of all we do.

We are delighted to have Venus on board and look forward to her leadership as we continue to support our community.
