What a fantastic day at Nelson Speedway for the annual Nelson Vintage Car Club Daffodil Day Rally for Cancer Show & Shine. The sun was shining, the cars were gleaming, and the atmosphere was full of energy and community spirit.

Classic and vintage cars of all shapes and sizes rolled in throughout the day, each with its own story. The crowds turned out in force, and the event continues to attract locals and visitors year after year.

A huge thank you to the Nelson Vintage Car Club and all their members who volunteered to make the day run smoothly. We’re also grateful to our own helpers – Liam, Suzanna (aka Shaz from Stoke), Zoey and Kane, and Kate with her grandson – for their time and energy.

The day was made even better with tasty food provided by local vendors, great coffee, and live entertainment, keeping everyone smiling from start to finish.

Beyond celebrating beautiful cars, the rally is about giving back. Entry fees, raffle proceeds, and donations all go to Cancer Society Nelson Tasman, helping us provide vital support to locals facing cancer.

Thanks to the dedication of NVCC members, the support of MS Ford Nelson, and the wider community, this event continues to drive local funds for local cancer support. We were also fortunate to have The Moutere Hop run their own Daffodil Rally, which finished at the Show & Shine and made a considerable contribution to this year’s fundraising.

We are thrilled to share that together the Nelson Vintage Car Club Show & Shine and The Moutere Hop raised an incredible $11,241.95 for Cancer Society Nelson Tasman. Over half of this total came through raffle sales alone – a fantastic effort from all involved.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, from car owners and raffle sellers to visitors, food vendors, entertainers, and volunteers. Your generosity has made a real difference for people in our community facing cancer.

Thank you for celebrating classic cars while supporting the Nelson Vintage Car Club Daffodil Rally for Cancer Show & Shine.

National impact

It wasn’t just Nelson doing its bit. Across the country, the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand pulled off its strongest result yet. Since starting the Daffodil Rally for Cancer in 2017, the Club has raised more than $500,000 for the Cancer Society – and this year alone added another $110,000 in a single weekend. That effort came from 36 branches nationwide, countless members and supporters, and the generosity of local communities, proving just how powerful heritage motoring can be when it’s harnessed for a cause.
