Getting to treatment shouldn’t be a barrier to care.

At Cancer Society Nelson Tasman, our volunteer drivers are here to help you get to and from your cancer-related medical appointments when whānau, friends, or public transport aren’t an option.

Each week, our small team of trained, trusted volunteers generously give their time and often use their own vehicles to ensure local people can access the treatment they need. Whether you’re attending radiation, chemotherapy, or a specialist appointment, we’re here to support you on the journey.

Our drivers go through a careful selection process, including interviews, police checks, advanced driving assessments, and ongoing training. You’ll find them friendly, reliable, and committed to making your experience as stress-free as possible.

This free service is available to people in our region who:

  • Are currently undergoing cancer treatment
  • Have no access to transport
  • Are unable to drive themselves
  • Don’t have someone available to take them

If you think this service might help you or someone you care about, please get in touch. We’ll work with you to see what’s possible based on your location and appointment schedule.

Last year, our volunteer drivers completed hundreds of trips across the Nelson Tasman region, helping people focus on healing instead of worrying about how they’d get to treatment.
